Adrian Delano Dantley was born on February 28, 1955, in Washington, DC. He is the son of Virginia Dantley. From a very young age, he was interested in basketball. He went to DeMatha Catholic High School where he used to play under Morgan Wootten. In his school career, he had a game-winning streak of 36 and the overall record was 57-2. In doing so, he went on to receive All-American honors.
Later, he received a basketball scholarship and attend the University of Notre Dame. He was in the first-team All-American in 1974-75. Then he was able to score 2,223 points and played an important role in the biggest game of college basketball history. Later on, he get a chance to represent the United States in the Olympics and won a gold medal.
