Sportswriting career
Hahn began his journalism career as a part-time sports department clerk at Newsday in 1995. Over the next year, he progressed from answering phones to covering high school games.
Hahn was promoted to full-time in 1999 and assigned to the New York Islanders beat. In 2000, he received the paper’s prestigious “Publisher’s Award” for Sports Writing.
He covered the Islanders until 2006 when he was assigned to cover the New York Knicks. He amassed a sizable fan base for his Knicks coverage and his popular blog, The Knicks Fix.
Hahn covered every professional team in the Metropolitan New York area for 15 years at Newsday, including two Stanley Cup runs by the New Jersey Devils hockey team and two seasons as the backup writer for the New York Jets football team.
Broadcasting career
In the summer of 2010, Hahn was a regular guest on Knicks Night Live on MSG Network, and he was an occasional analyst on Knicks game broadcasts on MSG Network during the 2010-11 season.
Following the 2011 NBA lockout, Hahn left Newsday to work for MSG Network as a studio analyst on all Knicks home and away games, where he collaborates with fellow Long Islander and former NBA All-Star Wally Szczerbiak.
In 2012, Hahn was named host of The Mike Woodson Show, which airs weekly on the MSG Network during the season. Hahn also hosts The Knicks Fix, a pregame segment that airs before every home game broadcast.
That same year, Hahn began working as a regular fill-in host on ESPN Radio in New York. In 2014, he formed the “Hahn & Humpty Show” with former New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro, which debuted on weeknights.
The popular show was quickly moved to a mid-day time slot, and former Super Bowl champion Chris Canty joined the cast to form “Hahn, Humpty & Canty.”
During the summers of 2016 and 2017, the show was simulcast on MSG Network. Hahn left the show in August 2017 to host his own daily show, “Hahn Solo,” which aired on the station in the evenings.
In January 2020, Hahn returned to the mid-day schedule to co-host the “Bart & Hahn Show” with former NFL linebacker Bart Scott, which airs weekdays from 12-2 p.m. on ESPN Radio.
On January 5, 2021, the show was moved to ESPN Radio’s national format. Hahn fills in as host of “Keyshawn, JWill, and Zubin” on a regular basis.
