Madonna’s sister Melanie Ciccone who is married to musician Joe Henry broke the news on Instagram on Saturday.
Sharing a black-and-white picture of his brother-in-law, Joe wrote, “My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly plane last evening. I’ve known him since I was 15, in the spring of our lives in Michigan, so many years now gone.”
With that announcement, many fans and followers were deeply devasted and took to social media to pay tribute to Anthony. In the same post, people left sweet and touching messages.
Joe also hinted at Anthony’s struggles over the years, calling him a “complex character.” Fans offered their condolences to Anthony’s family, with one person commenting, “Loved Anthony and love you guys.”
