Although born and bred in India, Bhavna is of Ugandan British descent who spent a year of her childhood in the East African Country. Her parents had moved to India so that she could relate with her native hometown before relocating to Uganda.
After being deported from the country during the Idi Amin regime, the family relocated to Hong Kong where her dad initiated an import-export business. While residing in Hong Kong, she attended local school administered under the British system of education.
Since her father experienced bankruptcy in the business, the family moved to America where he was offered a job. She grew up alongside three siblings, an elder sister and a younger brother and a sister.
Aspired to become a therapist since aged 14, she graduated from New York University from with a degree in psychology. Bhavna lost her dad in early 2007 after which her mom returned to India whereas her siblings still reside in the United States.
