Chelah Horsdal – Bio, Husband and Family Detail About the Actress
Chelah Horsdal was born on 19th June 1973 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She spent the first three years of her life on her parent’s farm before her mother took her to Kitsilano, Vancouver. There, she grew up, attending the Bayview Elementary and subsequently, Lord Byng Secondary.
After high school, Chelah Hordal started modelling in local commercials and television shows. She later moved to the Caribbean and spent a year there modelling. On returning to Canada, Chelah tried her hands on a variety of professions including restaurant management, interior design, magazine creative directing, event production, and so on. She, however, failed to establish in any of the jobs, and so she decided to give acting a try. To make her decision a reality, she prepared herself through a variety of activities including reading and watching movies. She also trained at the Lyric School of Acting in Vancouver.
Acting Career
Chelah Horsdal debuted her acting career in 2002. Her first credited acting role was on “Pieces of Eight“, one of the 2003 episodes of the Global television Sci-Fi series, Andromeda (2000-2005). She later got her first movie role in 2004, starring as Jan in The Truth About Miranda. The next year, 2005 saw Horsdal nominated for Leo Awards Best Performance for her role as Alice in the short film, Dark Room.
Chelah landed her breakthrough movie role in the 2007 sci-fi horror film, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem where she starred as Darcy Benson. Her television big break came in 2013 when she got the role of portraying major character Maggie Palmer in the AMC TV series, Hell On The Wheels (2013-2016). She later landed another big TV role as Helen Smith in the 2015 series, The Man In The High Castle.
Chelah Horsdal since after debuting on the screens has continued to work really hard. So far in her career, she has appeared in over a hundred movies, television films and TV series. Prominent among them are: When We Rise, Spontaneous, I’m Not A Bad Person, This Is Your Death, When Calls The Heart, The Returned, Patterson’s Wager, Lying To Be Perfect, Mrs. Miracle, The Hostage, Battlestar Galactica, Level Up, Wishing Well, Boundaries, among numerous others. She has also modelled in over 70 product/brand commercials.
Chelah Horsdal has also had opportunities to appear alongside famous actors such as Rufus Sewell, Sir Ben Kingsley, John Lithgow, James Franco, Kris Kristofferson, Mary McDonnell among others.
Coming down to her film production career, Chelah created the production company, Phoebe Films under which she works on her own movies. She also uses the platform to train and empower young and upcoming actresses.
Other Ventures
In addition to her entertainment career, Chelah Horsdal is also a humanitarian who has an affinity for animals. She invests her time and talent in organizing fundraisers and enlightenment programs for animal welfare. Some of the charities she has worked with include Caleb’s Hope, Doctors Without Borders and the Canadian Red Cross. Moreover, her paintings and photos have been used to raise money for several charities.
