Offscreen, Michael is a nice, sincere, and empathic person, all of which serve him well in the part. This helps him portray the character effectively. Not only is he capable of delivering a mature yet sensitive lead performance at such a young age, but he is also a fully-fledged and card-carrying LGBT ally in an industry that is still inexplicably bigoted in Hollywood.
