What Did David Spade Say to Eddie Murphy? Joke That Offended Snl Star Eddie
Spade explained the origins of his Murphy remark, which he made in response to the actor’s two consecutive failed films, Harlem Nights and Vampire in Brooklyn.
The “baiting” of the SNL cast and writing team, who challenged him “to go after particular people,” boosted Spade’s confidence.
Spade received multiple phone calls from an enraged Murphy the following Monday.
After attempting to avoid the encounter, he eventually made contact with the famed comic, who, according to Spade, unleashed a barrage of expletives: “David Spade, who the f&*k do you think you are?!! Honestly? Who. The. F&*k. Going after ME?? You dumb mot&*^%^*^er! I’m off-limits, don’t you know that? You wouldn’t have a job if it weren’t for me. Talking s&*t about me?”
