She grew up in a suburban neighborhood and attended West Springfield High School, where she was a standout track and field athlete. She was a member of the school’s 4×400-meter relay team that won the state championship in 1999.
After high school, Rein attended the University of Florida, where she continued her track and field career. She was a member of the Gators’ 4×400-meter relay team that won the NCAA indoor championship in 2003. She graduated from Florida with a degree in communications in 2003.
