Katiyah Hines, aka Braid Barbie, was arrested following a deadly vehicle crash killing her passenger.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Katiyah Hines, the driver, has been charged with a fatal collision in north Charlotte.
After midnight on Monday, according to police, they were called to a crash involving three automobiles on Pat Garrett Street near Statesville Avenue in the Double Oaks neighborhood.
When an SUV crashed, there were two persons inside, according to police. Jayquan Reid, a passenger who was later identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was brought to the hospital with critical wounds.
According to the police, the driver, Katiyah Hines, was heading west when she struck two other parked vehicles on the right side of the road. The SUV then fell to its side and came to a rest. According to the police, neither Hines nor Reid used a seat belt.
Authorities discovered Hines was speeding and intoxicated during the inquiry, which contributed to the collision. Hines was accused of felony vehicular homicide.
When a Channel 9 crew arrived, they saw a car on its side on Pat Garrett Street’s left side, with police and crime scene investigators trying to figure out what happened.
Later in the morning, CMPD ordered the area to be vacated after a tow truck was seen removing the car off Pat Garrett Street.
