Is Merrick Garland Jewish – What Is His Religion? Details About the United States Attorney General
Merrick Garland was brought up in a home where the Judaism religion was followed. His Jewish mother and Protestant Father raised him in the Lincolnwood neighborhood in northern Chicago. Thus, he is Jewish too.
His mother, Shirley, served as the director of volunteer services at the Council for Jewish Elderly in Chicago. His father, Cyril Garland, ran the family’s small business, Garland Advertising, out of the family home.
However, his lineage is not originally from the United States. His great-grandparents fled anti-Semitism and sought a better life for their children in America in the early 1900s by leaving the Pale of Settlement, located at the boundary of Western Europe and Russia.
Thus, starting from his father’s generation, his family has been residing in the United States and has been the country’s nationals.
