Ivan Toney is of Afro-Caribbean descent and was born and reared in England. The player is British by birth, having been born in Northampton. Toney’s Jamaican father relocated to England in the 1980s, where he met Toney’s mother, who is of English and Irish ancestry. Toney was raised in Northampton and started playing football at an early age, ultimately joining Northampton Town’s junior program.
While Ivan is of Jamaican descent, he has never represented Jamaica at the international level, instead playing for several England junior teams. He was called up to the England under-19 squad for the first time in 2015, and he has also played for the under-20 and under-21 teams.
