Maria Thayer was born—Maria Christina Thayer— in Portland, Oregon, on October 30, 1975, to a middle-class family of apiculturists. We’re not sure if she’s an only child. However, she spent the most part of her childhood in the small town of Boring, in eastern Portland where her parents ran a bee farm. While still young, little Maria moved with her parents to Minnesota. There she would begin life as a teenager.
Growing up, Thayer attended Apple Valley High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and was a member of the award-winning forensics program and the National Forensic League. Call her a brain, and you won’t be wrong. She was also a Homecoming Queen of the school. Following her graduation from high school, Thayer proceeded to the state of New York where she enrolled at The Juilliard School to prepare her for a professional career in acting.
Fresh from school, she launched her acting career with a role, Louise, in the 1999 film, Kimberly. She also appeared in the cult TV series, Strangers with Candy. It wasn’t long before her talents began speaking for itself. Thayer appeared in several other TV series including Cougar Town, Big Apple, Bickford, and The Education of Max. Perhaps the highlight of her career came when she starred alongside Hollywood bigwigs such as Will Smith and Eva Mendes in the 2005 film, Hitch. So far, twenty-year career has seen her feature in at least fifty films, TV series, music videos, stage performances. Let’s see a few of those.
