The famously known actor was born to his parents, John Robert Salling and Condy Sue Salling on 17th August 1982 in Dallas, Texas, United States. His father worked as an accounting officer while his mother carried out administrative work. Concerning his academic history, Mark Salling enrolled at Culver Military Academy before transferring to Lake Highland High School where he completed his basic education. While in high school, he took part in Wrestling fights as he was a fellow of the wrestling group.
Upon graduation from high school, Salling proceeded to the Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music, situated in Pasadena, California and there, he was trained on how to play the guitar and later became a guitar instructor. Following his passion for music, Mark Salling began his music career in 2008 when he dropped his first album titled ‘Smoke Signals’ under the record label of Jericho. Two years later, the dexterous music producer went on to contribute to the music industry with yet another album titled, ‘Pipe Dreams’ which he dropped through his self-established record label known as Pipe Dreams Records in collaboration with Fontana Distribution.
Salling depicted his multi-talented nature in his music career as he took the sole responsibility of developing, producing and equally performing his various songs. With reference to his acting career, Mark Salling made appearances in a few movies and TV series which include the 1996 American horror movie, Children of Corn IV: The Gathering.
Later in 2006, he was featured in the independent slasher film, The Graveyard. From 2009 to 2015, Mark Salling became a prominent actor as a result of his performance in the Fox musical comedy-drama series, Glee. He was cast as Noah Puckerman, a high school footballer, in the series he performed several musical performances. He performed various songs such as ‘Only the Good Die Young’, ‘Just Give Me a Reason’, ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’, as a solo and equally a duet. His performance earned him public recognition as he achieved numerous nominations in many award shows. He also recognised his co-stars on Glee in one of his music videos titled, ‘Chillin on Glee’. His other TV and movie credits include Glee: 3D Concert Movie, Walker, Texas Ranger, and others.
Mark Salling was entangled in many issues when he was alive which was speculated to have contributed to him taking his own life. Firstly, he was involved in a sexual assault case which he eventually settled out of court by paying $2.7 million to his ex-girlfriend. Secondly, he was involved in a child pornography case as over 50,000 photos of child porn was found in his possession. Following his guilty plea in 2017, Salling was already facing a possible four to seven years jail sentence before his dead body was discovered in January 2018 in Los Angeles.
