Meaghan Thomas joined ABC 33/40s weather team in May of 2014. This experience further reinforced her desire to learn more about atmospheric science.
While in graduate school, Meaghan also worked as a meteorologist at WCBI, the CBS affiliate, in Columbus, MS. She helped cover the April 28, 2014 tornado outbreak across Mississippi. In 2016, Meaghan earned the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval.
Thus, not only is she a Meteorologist that can communicate the weather but a Meteorologist that really knows the science behind it. She is one of the youngest females in the state of Alabama to hold this CBM Seal of Approval.
When Meaghan is not in the studio, she is out getting to know the wonderful people of Central Alabama. Meaghan is extremely invested in the Magic City and serves on the Junior Board of Restoration Academy in Fairfield, works with the Boy Scouts of America in Birmingham, on the Young Professionals of Birmingham Board.
Serving with the Public Relations Committee and also dedicates time to serve on the Board of KultureCity Birmingham which promotes Autism acceptance and a better future for children with autism. She is also a mentor through the Aspire Movement Ministry and serves on Sunday at her church, Church of the Highlands, in the Nursery / Preschool.
When she isn’t communicating about the weather or serving throughout the city Meaghan enjoys working out, cheering on the Crimson Tide, and teaching her Pomeranian, Daisy Diana new tricks!
