John Avlon started his career as a speechwriter for Rudy Giuliani and was the youngest on the team.
He then became the Chief Speechwriter and Deputy Director of Policy, where he wrote speeches for the mayor’s addresses for the State of the City and testimony to Congress on homeland security, among others.
This star journalist was also a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and served on the advisory board of several organizations.
In 2008, he joined The Daily Beast, starting as a columnist and eventually becoming editor-in-chief, where he doubled the website’s traffic and won over 17 awards for journalistic excellence.
Later, in 2018, John moved to CNN as a senior political analyst and anchor, appearing on various programs and creating the “Reality Check” segment.
Avlon has also written numerous articles and essays and has been interviewed in several documentaries, including HBO’s Breslin and Hamill: Deadline Artists.
