What Is the Age of Byron Young? Meet the Athlete on Instagram
Byron Young has been interested in football since an early age.
He prepped at Carvers Bay High School in Hemingway, South Carolina, before moving to Georgia for Junior college.
Young was one of the top pass rushers in the junior college ranks. He enrolled at Tennessee in January 2021 and turned heads during the spring as an outside linebacker.
Byron did not play a season in the fall of 2020 due to Covid 19. Also, due to Covid, he did not receive any Power Five Offers until the late fall of 2020.
Thus, he moved from S.C. to Columbus, Georgia, and served as an assistant manager at Dollar General for about 18 months before earning a spot at GMC through a tryout.
Young has maintained good stats in his junior year(2021). He has five tackles in the regular-season finale vs. Vanderbilt, posted two tackles vs. #1 Georgia.
He also led the Vols with a career-high two sacks at #18 Kentucky and also made a significant impact too in the pass rush at #4 Alabama.
Byron led the team with six total tackles in his FBS career debut vs. Tennessee Tech(9/18), helping limit the Golden Eagles to just 35 yards rushing.
