He was sent to a state-sponsored school, the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida, by his mother after he lost his eyesight at a little age of 7. He learned to arrange music there, along with playing trumpet, clarinet, sax, organ, and piano. His classmates love to hear his music.
