Reddit Discusses the Case of Rugby Player Sam Ballard Who Died of a Slug
Reddit now is crowded with discussing the death cause of then-Australian Rugby player Sam Ballard. He died on November 2, 2018, at the early age of 28.
The former player swallowed a slug at a party in Sydney in 2010 as a dare by friends and was taken to hospital immediately after spelled of dizziness and vomiting.
As a result, he was discovered to have rat lungworm, a parasite often found in rats but occasionally also in snails and slugs.
He then contracted eosinophilic meningoencephalitis and went into a coma for 420 days. Luckily he woke up after a long time but unfortunately, he needed to be diagnosed with a serious brain injury. Further complications led him to paralyzed and finally said goodbye to the world.
Reddit users are being aggressive about Sam’s family as they blamed doctors for not fixing him. People are commenting about the incident and marking it as a horror death and suggesting not to do such silly things as a part of dare games.
