1. She auditioned for a role in the TV series Empire and landed a role. She was, however, unable to follow through on her contractual obligations to her label.
2 Growing up in an active family, she cites the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, as one of the major influences in her career. Brandy, Aaliyah and Lauryn Hill were also an inspiration.
3. Destiny’s last name is ‘Irons’ since her father’s name is Deron Irons. However, she opted to ditch “Irons” for “Ryan”, which she felt sounded better professionally.
4. She attended West Bloomfield High School, and as early as 2011 entered a singing contest to attend the premiere of Justin Bieber’s “Just Say Never.” She came out on top.
5 Growing up, Destiny struggled with insecurities approaching her skin tone. Her mother was fair-skinned and one of her grandmothers, but over time she came to embrace the beauty and uniqueness of her color.
