In 2009, David Holmes met an accident. He got injured while filming his sixth film in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
According to the source, the stuntman injured his spine in an accident during one of the stunts, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. He was rehearsing a flying sequence using a harness with a planned blast which was supposed to send Holmes “jerking back”, but it went “badly wrong” and he slammed into a wall.
Although he initially hoped to return to work, Holmes is now paralyzed and uses a wheelchair. He is credited in the finished film as a stunt performer.
After becoming disabled, he took up automobile racing, driving a car with hand controls which he could operate.
