Shannon was 23 years of age at the time of her death. It was revealed that she was not only depressed, but she also struggled with alcohol and drug abuse. In addition, Shannon was in severe debt and was so terrified about her safety that she slept with a gun under her pillow.

On July 11, 1994, after a night party, Shannin crashed her car into a fence, bearing her nose. Distressed about the accident, she went home and asked her friend to walk a dog. She then called her manager to help her with a ride to the hospital. As soon as she was left alone, Shannon shot herself in the head and passed away hours later in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
