Wes Unseld Jr Net Worth and Salary as Washington Wizards Head Coach
The Washington Wizards head coach, Wes Unseld, is one of the only two children of the late former basketball legend Unseld Sr. He has reportedly inherited a fortune from his father.
Wes Unseld Sr. was an American professional and successful basketball player, coach, and executive. He played all his National Basketball Association (NBA) basketball careers for the Baltimore, Capital, and Washington Bullets.
The Bullets chose Unseld to play college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals with the second overall pick in the 1968 NBA Draft. He shared the distinction with Wilt Chamberlain as the only player in NBA history to win the NBA Most Valuable Player and NBA Rookie of the Year awards during their respective rookie seasons.
Unseld Jr’s father won an NBA championship with the Bullets in 1978. He served as the Bullets/Wizards’ vice president, head coach, and general manager upon his retirement from the game in 1981.
Unseld was nominated to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988 and 2006, respectively.
He passed away on June 2, 2020, after suffering lengthy health battles, leaving behind a fortune for his children and a legacy and history in the NBA.
